The city of Trieste
This apartment takes its name from the city of Trieste, capital of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. This city is the extreme eastern border of Italy and overlooks the homonymous gulf of Trieste. In a landscape with a breathtaking view, this city of Roman origin, has changed its face during the period of government of the Austrian Empire. The unmistakable style of the imperial palaces can be seen in the streets of the center overlooking the sea. From Trieste you can reach the nearby Istria, now Croatia, passing a few kilometers in Slovenia. This peninsula that once was Italian territory, is rich in small Venetian-style towns overlooking a sea of unique beauty. Every year on the second Sunday of October, the city of Trieste becomes the natural theater of a unique show in the world: the Barcolana! The Barcolana is the sailing regatta with the largest number of boats participating in the world. The Gulf of Trieste is colored with the sails of over 2000 boats, and professionals and non-professionals are competing together. Trieste dresses up for the Weekend and it is possible to participate in a series of events involving the sea and the city. To visit Trieste, you can use your car, or reach it with the comfortable train that from Vicenza arrives directly in the city center in only 2 hours and 30.
